heat treated glass

Rochester Insulated Glass has been fabricating heat treated glass since the 1970's. In our Headquarter facility in upstate New York, we operate several of the finest furnaces ever made for heat treating flat architectural glass. With the ability to produce glass up to 130" x 240" or 96" x 284", our sizes set us apart from the competition. Utilizing our unique custom machinery designed and fabricated in Finland we are able to stand out in the world of heat treated glass.

RIG has the ability to be your partner on projects across the globe from one piece of oversized glass to hundreds of thousands of feet of heat treated commodity glass.

All heat treated glass fabricated by RIG is tested in house by a rigorous quality control department that is monitored by an independent agency. All heat treated glass is fabricated to meet its respective ASTM standard including (ASTM C1048-04, ASTM C1279-06 & ASTM C1651-08).

Our heat treated glass can be produced to the standards of Heat Strengthened or Tempered glass. This heat treated glass is typically used in applications where safety glazing, or strength in thermal, mechanical or deflection is required.

Due to the process of heat treating glass, there is an accepted distortion of all heat treated glass whether fully tempered or heat strengthened. This distortion is an inherent part of the heat treating process and is not considered a flaw. There are no ASTM standards that are associated with roller wave distortion. As for all project applications, RIG recommends a full sized mock up to see how the product will look in actual field conditions.
