Rochester Insulated Glass produces Heat Strengthened spandrels
with a ceramic frit permanently fused to one surface.
Achieving twice the strength of annealed glass, heat strengthening
also advantageously provides the stabilizing of larger fragments
to remain in the frames in the event of breakage.
Colors
Although Spandrels are, in fact, available in innumerable
colors, as well as custom colors, RIG makes certain colors
immediately available. These colors include the most popular
and widely used.
These typical colors include grey, bronze, lava bronze, black,
graylite 14, graphite, solex, and others. All available colors
may be applied to tinted and certain reflective substrates
as well as clear.

Installation and Assemblies
The durable ceramic frit, which comes in a variety of colors,
is always produced to be installed as the number 2 surface
in monolithic glazing or number 3 or 4 in insulating glazing.
Aesthetically pleasant, functionally appropriate and effective,
spandrel panels proved excellent insulating systems combined
as an hermetically sealed insulating unit, or when backed with
commercially available, insulating material such as fiber glass
with a foil vapor barrier. And of course the design criteria
may include additional metal backing applied directly to the
installation. |
